Rockslide at UMMC’s Gaisky GOK plant, 1 miner killed

MOSCOW, Jan 16 (PRIME) – A rockslide killed one miner at the Gaisky GOK mining and processing plant of Russia’s Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC), but the mine continues operations, a spokesperson of the Emergency Ministry told PRIME on Thursday.

“One man was killed by a rockslide at a depth of 1,045 meters in a ventilation shaft of the Gaisky GOK, the body has been discovered,” the spokesperson said.

The Emergency Ministry is working to understand the circumstances of the event, the spokesperson added.
